RE and Collective Worship

At Forty Hill School, RE is an important part of our curriculum. We follow the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) curriculum, which uses big questions to help children explore faith and important questions about life.
Children learn about Christianity and other religions and worldviews. They learn what people believe, how these beliefs affect the way people live, and how different beliefs can shape communities and cultures.

RE helps children to:

  • understand different faiths and beliefs

  • respect and value diversity

  • ask questions and share ideas

  • think about their own beliefs and values

  • develop kindness, empathy and compassion

  • understand their responsibilities towards others.

Our RE curriculum supports our school vision of Faith, Hope and Service. Children learn about important values such as compassion, justice, kindness and helping others.

Through our Global Neighbours project, children learn about the wider world and how they can make a positive difference to the lives of others.

Collective Worship

Collective Worship is an important part of school life. Each day, children and staff have time to reflect, think and pray by invitation.

Our worship includes:

  • Bible stories and teachings

  • our Christian values

  • music and singing

  • opportunities for reflection and prayer.

We also work with our local church and Rev'd Chris Bolster and Rev'd Mandy , who leads worship and supports our school community.

Children have opportunities to attend worship in school and at church, as well as taking part in community prayer and quiet reflection.

Through RE and Collective Worship, we aim to help children grow academically, spiritually and personally, becoming caring, respectful and responsible members of their community and the wider world.
