Mr Barry Young
I have lived in the parish, in walking distance of Forty Hill School, for 20 years and as a family we have invested fully in the area and the community. Our two older daughters are presently in years 9 and 7 at a local secondary school and both benefitted immeasurably from the nurturing environment and range of experiences offered to them at Forty Hill. Our youngest daughter is now in Year 2, so I have a long term and continuing commitment to wanting the best for our school.
I believe that my 29 years of experience teaching Drama and English in London and Herts secondary schools gives me a unique understanding of where our children are heading. I have day-to-day experience of managing staff, providing training and developing the curriculum which help me to contribute positively to the governing body of Forty Hill School. While I understand the pressures exerted on schools today by the government and local authority, and the necessity for rigorous standards in literacy and numeracy, I believe, both as a parent and as teacher, that a good school provides rich opportunity for personal development and growth; that participation in an innovative arts based curriculum fosters academic achievement, social and emotional development and civic engagement. Our school has provided a wealth of positive experiences for my children and I am proud to play my part in ensuring this continues.
I have the interests of Forty Hill C of E Primary School very much at heart and look forward to being involved in the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, in whatever ways are helpful to the School community.
