Year 2- Protest at the Civic Centre
On Wednesday 16th July, Year 2 along with Miss Wisbey, Ms Darby, Mrs Sofroniou, Ms Izard, Mr Pennock and some of our parents and governors, staged a peaceful (but loud!) protest outside the Civic Centre in Enfield Town. Our purpose of our protest was to draw attention to the proposed plans by Enfield Council to charge for parking at Forty Hall and the introduction of resident parking bays in the surrounding streets- leaving nowhere for our parents to park to drop off, collect, attend events and meetings and much more. These restrictions will have a detrimental affect on the future of our school. The Year 2 class were in fine voice, chanting ' No charging at Forty Hall, how do we get to school?', and brought many council officials down from their offices to see what was going on. Eventually, Ms Izard was told that the Leader of Enfield Council would like to meet with her as a result of our protest! Following the protest, Ms Izard met with Councillor Ergin Erbil, Leader of Enfield Council and explained our big concerns. He listened and has stated he will work with the school and the local community to ensure our parents and visitors do not have to pay to attend our school. FIngers crossed! Well done Year 2!
