At Forty Hill, we use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as the framework for planning our children’s learning in Literacy and Topic (Geography, History, Art and Design). The IPC takes a thematic, creative approach to the curriculum; very much in line with our wish to engage the children in exciting and meaningful learning. It has a strong international element, appropriate for the world that our young people will hold in their hands. It also ensures that the subject requirements of the National Primary Curriculum are met in a structured way, building on previous learning.

We follow the Enfield Local Authority guidance for Mathematics. In Literacy, we use a variety of resources to enhance our children’s learning, including ‘Letters and Sounds’ for Phonics, Daily Supported Reading (DSR) and a range of published reading schemes include Oxford Reading Tree, Big Cat, Jelly and Bean and Songbirds.
We use the Collins ‘Snap Science’ scheme for teaching a modern and exciting science curriculum; Enfield PE team support us with our planning for PE as well as our fabulous coaches from Get Set for Sport; We use the Enfield PSHE Curriculum alongside the Christopher Winter Project to teach our children about health, emotional well being and relationships.
We use a variety of teaching and learning techniques to deliver our curriculum and teachers and support staff are well trained to deliver these areas. The specific curriculum for each half term and the long term plan for each class will be posted in the Class News section of this website.
